FOR TEACHERS

South Carolina Children’s Theatre is extremely proud of the educational programming we provide upstate teachers, educators and schools either free-of-charge or at minimal cost. These programs are made possible by our Theatre Outreach Partnerships (TOPs) which are financially supported by the generous donations from community members, businesses, corporations and foundations. Founded on the belief in the transformational benefits of the arts for ALL youth, TOPs provides tailor-made educational programs for area youth typically underserved by the arts community. This includes those who are at-risk, disadvantaged, hospitalized, or have special needs. TOPs fulfills this mission through scholarships to attend Conservatory classes; artistic residencies in Title 1 schools, camps and children's hospitals; community outreach projects such as KNOW WAY; outreach tickets to SCCT productions at the Peace Center, Timbre Tales, a children’s literature collaboration with the Greenville Symphony, and reduced daytime performances for schools and home schooled children. Outreach "We are honored to have your continued support of Camp Courage. The talent that you send to both our teen camp and main camp is phenomenal. I had the opportunity to observe some of the campers during drama, and it really was hilarious and uplifting to see how the teenage campers really got into their performance. It was also inspiring to to see some of our quiet, reserved campers really break out of their shell during drama." -- Jamie Gibson, Certified Child Life Specialist, Camp Courage Director Know Way “The program was not only funny, but very thought provoking and educational for our students. The performance kept the students interested and engaged and presented Bullying information in a way that 6th grade students could relate. It was also a tremendous advantage for our students to get the follow-up in-class workshops. They were engaging and entertaining all the while communicating pertinent issues related to Bullying. I heard nothing but positive from students and teachers.” --Darcy Storm, Guidance Counselor, Sevier Middle School
Scholarship “Participation in the South Carolina Children’s Theatre classes is an ideal vehicle to help build a child’s self-esteem, self-discovery, make new friends and increase communication skills. Thank you for providing a scholarship program!" --Bernice Jackson, Principal, Brook Glenn Elementary School
