Leigh Ann Daniels’ Memorial Endowment

Leigh Ann Daniels

The Leigh Ann Daniels’ Memorial Endowment at South Carolina Children's Theatre was established in 2005 in loving memory of one of SCCT’s earliest and most enthusiastic participants, Leigh Ann Daniels.

Leigh Ann, who passed away January 5, 2005, was a native of Greenville, who began singing, dancing and performing at the early age of three with the Carolina Ballet Theatre and Greenville Little Theatre. A graduate of Riverside High School and Columbia College, she worked at the Kroger Center for the Performing Arts in Columbia and acted in productions across the state before retuning home to Greenville in 1993 and becoming active at SCCT.

Leigh Ann starred as “Nancy” in OLIVER! in 1993, as “Grace Farrell in ANNIE in 1994, and as the “Narrator” in JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT in 1995. More importantly, however, was the way Leigh Ann befriended and mentored thousands of children who participated in SCCT workshops and productions. The children worshipped Leigh Ann, and she instilled self-confidence and a sense belonging in every child she worked with.

In Honor of her talents, her loving spirit, her never-ending smile, and all she gave to so many, the Leigh Ann Daniels’ Memorial Endowment was established shortly after she succumbed to a long illness at age 42 to ensure that her spirit and her many talents continue to benefit children with an interest in the arts, which were her very life.
