SCCT GLEErandom image
In response to the popularity of the Fox TV hit GLEE, South Carolina Children’s Theatre will launch their own “show choir,” for interested young people who love to sing. The goal is to provide a place for kids who like to sing popular music in a fun and hip style to form a strong ensemble and create a tour-able performance troupes to promote the performing arts and the super vocal talents of youth in our area. GLEE DIRECTOR - Adam Sanders is a May 2010 graduate of Erskine College with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. He performed the role of Ichabod Crane in SCCT's THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW last October as well as touring with our Elementary Bullying Prevention show. Adam has been involved with theatre for years, totaling close to 30 credits both onstage and backstage, his favorites including Smokey Joe's Cafe, Tony in West Side Story, Danny Zuko in Grease, Will Parker in Oklahoma!, and Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly! He was also an inaugural member of the Fountain Inn Repertory Experience where he still enjoys performing. He has sung in several traveling vocal ensembles including the Erskine College Choraleers, The Chamber Singers, The Gospel Choir and the men's a capella group The Fleetones. Adam also has experience directing and "choral-ographing." He directed and choreographed the musical Godspell and his own original cabaret which he also wrote and he choreographed for the Erskine College Choraleers' Pops Concerts and for the Greater Anderson Music and Arts Consortium Pops Concert. Adam had the opportunity to bring his love for theatre overseas when he conducted an independent theatre study in Spain during his semester abroad. He introduced the classic "A Christmas Carol" to the Spanish-speaking students and wrote and directed a condensed version of the play in simple English that the students performed for their peers. Adam is so excited to head up SCCT's GLEE and hopes that children everywhere will discover that dancing and singing is for everyone! SCCT GLEE will be made up of 8-12 strong high school singers/performers who will be cast after an audition and call-back. There will be an expectation of preparing material at home as assigned and the GLEE rehearsal schedule will be available to review at the audition—conflicts with the rehearsals must be noted at this time. There is a participation fee of $40 per member per semester. Please do not register for SCCT GLEE, we will contact you after the audition. Performances will be booked into the community in April & May. Check back mid to late summer for 2012-13 audition details. Please bring a parent to the audition to fill out paperwork and your conflicts with the proposed rehearsal schedule will need to be noted on the audition form. Download audition form. Plan to sing 16 bars of a pop song a capella (no accompaniment) and learn a short dance sequence (wear clothes appropriate for movement). |
