SCCT Gleerandom image In response to the popularity of the Fox TV hit GLEE, South Carolina Children’s Theatre will launch their own “show choir,” for interested young people who love to sing. The goal is to provide a place for kids who like to sing popular music in a fun and hip style to form a strong ensemble and create a tour-able performance troupe to promote the performing arts and the super vocal talents of youth in our area. GLEE DIRECTOR - Adam Sanders is a graduate of Erskine College in Due West, SC. At SCCT, he toured last fall with the elementary school bullying show “The Boy Who Cried Bully” in the role of Nate. In addition to Glee at SCCT, he also teaches musical theatre and choreographed and served as music director for SCCT’s 2nd Stage production of The True Stories of the 3 Little Pigs & The Frog Prince (Cont’d). Adam’s favorite stage credits include Smokey Joe's Cafe, Frederick Barrett in Titanic, the Musical, Robert Martin in The Drowsy Chaperone, Tony in West Side Story, Danny in Grease, Will Parker in Oklahoma!, Rooster in Annie, and Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly! Adam directed and choreographed the musical Godspell and his own original cabaret "Those Magic Changes" which he also wrote. Other choreography credits include choreography for the Erskine College Choraleers and for the Greater Anderson Music and Arts Consortium. He also brought his love for theatre to Spain during his semester abroad, where he introduced the classic "A Christmas Carol" to the Spanish-speaking students and wrote and directed a version in simple English. SCCT GLEE will be made up of 15-20 strong high school singers/performers who will be cast after an audition. There will be an expectation of preparing material at home as assigned and the GLEE rehearsal schedule will be available to review at the audition—conflicts with the rehearsals MUST BE NOTED AT THIS TIME! Performances will take place primarily in May, with the hopes to perform at the 2013 Carowinds Festival of Music in North Carolina. All travel will need to be arranged via parents of GLEE members, SCCT will not provide transportation to performances. There is a participation fee of $40 per member per semester payable on March 28, 2013. AUDITIONS/CALLBACKS: Will be Mon, March 25 by appointment from 6:30-8pm at SCCT Headquarters 153 Augusta St., Greenville, SC 29601—go to the side door!
